The sapwood is pale yellow to yellowish white in colour, the heartwood is yellow with darker streaks when first cut, becoming lustrous golden brown after seasoning and exposure. The grain is medium to moderately coarse and usually interlocked and a uniform appearance. Initially yellow in color, Tatajuba changes to medium brown as it ages. This maturing takes from three to eight months, depending on daylight conditions.



Tatajuba wood is hard and heavy.  It is a durable wood. Tatajuba is a medium density wood.

As a flooring option tatajuba  is one of the most hard and durable woods.



Easy to work and takes a high lustrous finish. It lends itself well to natural bends for boat building.
